Table tennis fans have been given the chance to pick the best played point of the year.

Five incredible rallies have been shortlisted for the "Star Point" prize which is one of the accolades which will be handed out at the 2015 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Star Awards in Lisbon on December 9.

The first point in contention is from the final of the ITTF Women's World Cup in Sendai, which saw several impressive shots from China's Liu Shiwen and Japan's Kasumi Ishikawa.

It was Ishikawa who eventually prevailed after a rally which continued in dramatic fashion despite the ball clipping the net, but Liu, the two-time World Championship gold medallist, went on to claim the match.

Point two also features Liu, this time in her Polish open clash with compatriot Zhu Yuling at the Polish Open.

Both players were forced away from the table but kept the point going until Liu, who went on to win the competition, eventually prevailed.

Point three came in the Men's World Championships final in Suzhou, which saw eventual champion Ma Long lose a long rally to his team-mate Fang Bo.

The fourth point was a marathon affair between France's Adrien Mattenet and Sweden's Par Gerell, which took place at the Czech Open.

Mattenet was on the defensive throughout the point, and lobbed back onto the table from all over the arena as Gerell peppered him with smashes.

The Frenchman keeps the rally going for what seems like an age before the Swede eventually proved to be too strong.

Point five sees another excellent array of shots between German Dimitrij Ovtcharov and Jun Mizutani at the Men's World Cup, with the latter winning the point.

The awards ceremony at the Patio da Gal in the Portuguese capital will also feature seven other categories, Male Table Tennis Star, Female Table Tennis Star, Male Para Table Tennis Star, Female Para Table Tennis Star, Table Tennis Star Coach, Table Tennis Breakthrough Star and Table Tennis Fair Play Star.
