A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been renewed between the Japan Football Association (JFA) and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) in Madrid, aimed at strengthening the mutual relationship and to cooperate together for the further development of the sport in the two countries.

Following on from the initial agreement between the JFA and the RFEF, which was signed in January 2010, the new MoU covers additional areas of cooperation such as exchange of information on grassroots to national teams and interaction on administration.

"I am very honoured by this meaningful moment of re-signing the partnership with RFEF," said JFA President Daini Kuniya, who met with RFEF counterpart Ángel María Villar in Spain's capital.

"We have fully examined within JFA in order to expand the areas of cooperation and I believe this new partnership will mean a lot to the football family in Japan.

"It is my sincere hope that this new agreement would lead us to a greater height."

The JFA and RFEF will seek to cooperate with each other in the areas of technical assistance and coach education, talent promotion, national teams, refereeing, and administration and legal matters.

Earlier this month, the JFA signed an MoU with the Mongolian Football Federation.

The governing body has also previously signed MoUs with football associations and federations in countries such as Germany, France, Spain, Singapore, Tajikistan, UAE, Jordan, Vietnam, Iran, India and Mongolia.
