The World Rowing Federation (FISA) have opened public nominations for their annual awards, giving fans the opportunity to have their say on who has put in outstanding performances this year.

Fans are able to nominate in five different categories including the male and female crews of the year, as well as the top para-rowing crew of 2015.

Only one nomination can be made in each category and individual rowers can also be nominated as a crew.

The final two award categories in which the public will be able to nominate people are for coach of the year and for the World Rowing distinguished service to rowing medal.

Nominations must be submitted by September 27 with fans able to make their submissions by clicking here and following the process the FISA Council will create a shortlist.

The five winners will then be decided by FISA’s Executive Committee on October 26, before they are publicly announced at the 2015 World Rowing Coaches Conference gala dinner in Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida.

Each of the winners will be presented with their respective awards at the event, which is due to take place on November 21.

New Zealand proved to be the dominant nation in 2014 with multiple world champions Eric Murray and Hamish Bond picking up the male crew of the year award for the third time, while single scull world champion Emma Twigg earned the female title.

Australia’s single sculls rower Erik Horrie earned the para-crew of the year award after winning the world title and Denmark’s Bent Fransson took the coaches’ title.

The World Rowing distinguished service to rowing medal was awarded to Switzerland's Denis Oswald, who had served as FISA’s secretary general for 11 years and President for 25 years before retiring earlier that year.
