A donation of Sh1 million (£67,000/$104,000/ €93,000) has been made to the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) towards its annual awards ceremony later this month by the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC).

The ceremony, first held in 2013, is due to take place on May 29 and honours Kenya's outstanding sportsmen and women and also sees some of the country's great names from the past inducted into the NOCK Hall of Fame.

“ As a company, we are happy to support the initiative by NOCK, which recognises the top achievers in the world of sport. Sports bring people together and as a company, we are glad to support the initiative," said Jason Nyantino, the corporate communications manager of KPC.

"We look forward to supporting NOCK activities in the future,”

Kipchoge Keino, the double Olympic gold medallis who is the chairman of NOCK, welcomed the investment in the event by KPC.

“Of course the money from Pipeline company goes along way in supporting not only the top achievers initiative, but also the preparation ahead of the 2016 Olympics," he said.

"There are many activities involved prior to the Games, and so having sponsors and well wishers come on board will definitely boost our preparations."
