Sir Philip Craven has attended a Congress by the Portuguese Paralympic Committee on Equality Inclusion and Excellence in Sport ©Portugal NPCTop officials from the Paralympic Movement have travelled to Lisbon where the Portuguese Paralympic Committee held its first Congress on "Equality, Inclusion and Excellence in Sport".

The Congress' aims were to continue the discussion and development of Paralympic issues, inclusion of sports and sporting excellence, and further broaden the range of actors within the Movement.

The event was intended to "develop and encourage the approach of studies, investigations, experiments and examples of good practice issues related to sport, with people with disabilities.

It also hoped to provide and encourage further "access to sports clubs and associations" for those athletes with a disability.

The event brought together personalities from the world of sport, including Sir Philip Craven, President of the International Paralympic Committee.

In addition to the plenary sessions with a number of Paralympic experts, there were also themed sessions and an education component through the presentation of research projects, posters and brief communications.
