FISU delagates arrive in Gwangji for inspection of GUOC preparationsOctober 1 - Delegates from the International University Sports Federation (FISU) are currently undertaking comprehensive inspections of Gwangju in preparation for the Summer Universiade due to take place there in 2015.

The delegation, which arrived in Gwangju yesterday, will be looking closely at the preparations being made in the lead-up to the Games.

Five delegates made the trip to Gwangju, including Summer Universiade director Marc Vandenplas.

In his first meeting with Gwangju 2015 secretary general Kim Yoon-Suk, Vandenplas stated the importance of cooperation between the Organising Committee and FISU with little over 21 months left until the Games are due to take place.

John Warnock, chair man of the International Technical Committee (CTI), was also in attendance and explained his role of engaging with the technical delegates of each sport to ensure the smooth running of operations in each sporting competition.

Throughout the week Gwangju 2015 and FISU delegates will discuss a wide range of topics surrounding the Games including, accommodation, transportation, broadcasting, IT systems and catering, as well as visiting a number of newly constructed sports venues such as the archery range, multi-purpose gymnasium, and aquatics centre.

The inspection is due to last until Friday (October 4), with a debriefing meeting due to be held on October 24 and 25.
