Browne, who lost his leg in an accident in 2009, proved one of the surprise stars of the London Paralympics and the 21-year-old from Michigan is likely to be Peacock's biggest rival for the T44 100m gold medal at the 2013 International Paralympic Committee (IPC) World Athletics Championships in Lyon in July.

Jerome Singleton, the reigning T44 100m world champion, has also been named along with fellow leg amputee sprinters Blake Leeper and David Prince.

"We should have some exciting races in the men's 100 and 200m for the 43 and 44 classes as the classes will be split for the first time in Paralympic history," said US Paralympics track and field high performance director Cathy Sellers.

"We look to be very competitive with Blake Leeper in the 43 and Richard Browne, Jerome Singleton and a healthy David Prince in the 44 class."

On the women's side, wheelchair racer Tatyana McFadden is picked after winning three gold medals and a bronze at London 2012 in the T54 class, while Shirley Reilly, who won the T54 marathon at the Paralympics, is also included.


Fellow Paralympic champions Jeremy Campbell and Raymond Martin also return as part of the team, which looks likely to be hugely successful on the international athletics circuit this year.

"It will be another exciting year for Paralympic track and field," Sellers added.

"Last year, we had a large number of young athletes in their first Paralympic Games and a large number of finalists.

"We hope to be able to convert those finalists to medallists this summer at the World Championships."

Athletes were nominated to the national team on January 1 this year and will retain their national team status through to the end of the year if they compete at the 2013 US Paralympics track and field national championships in June.

At the Paralympic Games, 18 American track and field athletes won a combined 28 medals, including nine golds between four athletes.

It saw the United States finish fourth on the athletics medal table behind China, Russia and Britain respectively.
