Matthew Cowdrey_20-03-12March 20 - Australia's Paralympic swimmers have set seven world records during their battle to go to the London 2012 Paralympic Games at the Australian Swimming Championships in Adelaide.

The records have yet to be ratified by International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Swimming, but two belong to eight-time Paralympic gold medal winner Matthew Cowdrey (pictured).

The S9 swimmer beat his own record in the 100 metres freestyle, but was still beaten by Daniel Fox, who finished in 54.38sec, while Tim Antalfy came third.

Jacqui Freney also set a world record as she won the 100m S8 freestyle women's title in a time of 1min 08.03sec, ahead of Taylor Corry and Kayla Clarke.

Blake Cochrane broke another record in a time of 1:19.06 in the 100m S8 breaststroke.

The Paralympic silver medallist came home ahead of Matt Levy and Cowdrey, while another world record fell as Mitchell Kilduff claimed the 50m Freestyle title.

The S14 competitor touched home on 24.84, with Fox taking silver and Cowdrey another bronze.

The 18-year-old S9 class athlete will hope to go better than his fifth place finish at Beijing 2008 when he travels to London this summer.

Rowan Crothers was second, the 14-year-old edging out Jay Dohnt, who was forced to settle for bronze.

Clarke set the final world record in the S14 class, with a time of 28.66 in the 50m freestyle, as she looks forward to a first ever appearance at a Paralympics, coming in front of Corry and Annabelle Williams.
