October 7 - Sebastian Coe (pictured) promised here today that doubts over where badminton and rhythmic gymnastics will be held during the London 2012 Olympics will be resolved by the end of this year.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) voiced concern that the two sports still did not know where they would be located in 2012 because London have scrapped plans to build a temporary arena in Greenwich which were due to accommodate them because it would save £40 million.
.
Denis Oswald, the chairman of the IOC's Coordination Commission for London, said: "London has still not yet achieved the final master-plan and two venues are still under discussion.

"I have to express a concern on behalf of the federations that three years before the Games their venue has not been finalised but meetings are going to take place with these federations within the coming week and we are confident a solution can be found.

"It's urgent that the master-plan be finalised and we hope this will be done before the next visit of the Coordination Commission in November."

Coe told insidethegames: "We will work towards a resolution by the end of the year.

"It is not that complicated.

"They [the sports] are going to be in London next week."

Both sports are expected to eventually be relocated to Wembley Arena, although badminton is resiting the change because they claim it would involve its competitors having to spend too much time travelling from the Olympic Village in East London.

Coe said: "We want to get it right and are working extremely closely with the IOC."

Apart from the doubts over the two sports, Oswald gave London's preparations a glowing assessment in the report he presented to the IOC's 121st Session here today.

He said: "London have maintained strong leadership in order to deliver their bid promises.

"Their structure is very solid and strong."

Coe said: "We are still delivering under unprecedented economic circumstances."
