Glasgow 2014 announced today that Kellogg's will be an official provider of cereal snacks for the Games, due to get underway on July 23.

As a worldwide provider of cereal and convenience foods, Kellogg's produces the Scottish best-seller Rice Krispie Squares, which is the number one cereal snack brand in Scotland.

"Kellogg's is a household name and a very well-loved brand in Scotland - as you can tell by the sales of the cereal bars here,"said Glasgow 2014 chief executive, David Grevemberg.

"At Games time it will be very important for our staff and volunteers as well as the athletes to keep their energy levels up and cereal bars will be a great way of doing this.

"The company is a very welcome addition to our Sponsor Family."

The company, whose largest factory is located at Trafford Park in Manchester, England, sells more than 23 million cereal snacks in Scotland each year.

Under its new partnership agreement, Kellogg's will supply the Games with cereal bars from its popular Nutri-Grain range for the athletes and workforce.

"We're extremely proud to lend our support to Glasgow 2014 - this is going to be a massive event, so it's only natural we'd want to get involved," said Gareth Maguire, commercial director for Kellogg's.

"The Commonwealth Games is a huge deal for Scotland and the UK and we're pleased our food will help fuel volunteers and fans alike."
