Riedel CommunicationsApril 19 - Riedel Communications, the company behind Felix Baumgartner's record-breaking skydive from the edge of space, have become the latest sponsor of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Riedel were founded in 1987 and have worked at numerous global sporting events, including the Olympic Games and the FIFA World Cup.

But they are perhaps best known for providing the communications solutions for Baumgartner's skydive that saw him become the first human to go through the sound barrier when he made the highest ever free-fall from 24 miles over New Mexico in October last year.

Riedel provided the intercom systems and on-board cameras for the historic event that enabled the stunning to be streamed live to an audience of billions around the world.

They will now serve as the Official Radio Communications Services Provider for Glasgow 2014.

"Based on our extensive experience from the past 25 years, we're able to deliver a solution that combines various technologies," said Riedel Communications director of global events Marc Schneider.

"We are confident that, together with Glasgow 2014, we will develop a solution, which will satisfy the technical, operational and budgetary requirements."

In addition, they will supply the radio communications solutions for the Scottish route of the Queen's Baton Relay, hoping to ensure radio communications run smoothly as the Baton makes its way through Scotland in June and July of next year.

"I'm delighted to have Riedel Communications, a globally recognised company, join our growing Sponsor family," said Glasgow 2014 chief executive David Grevemberg.

"We're excited to start working with a company with such an extensive background in successfully delivering services for major sporting events and iconic historical moments.
