June 30 - Usain Bolt will not compete in the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi later this year his manager has again insisted, despite being included among a preliminary list of athletes submitted by Jamaica today.

Bolt's inclusion on the list sent to organisers to coincide with today's deadline had raised hopes that the triple Olympic and world champion might reverse a decision announced earlier in the month that he would miss the event because he wanted to concentrate on next year's World Championships in Daegu and the London 2012 Olympics.

But Ricky Simms, his London-based agent, quickly crushed those hopes and confirmed that the 100 and 200 metres world record holder would not be there .

He said: "I can 100 per cent confirm that Usain will not be running at the Commonwealth Games.

"Maybe this list was sent in some time ago.

"The Commonwealth Games is not on Usain’s schedule for this year."

The absence of Bolt is an embarrassment to Suresh Kalmadi, the President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and chairman of the local organising committee, who had promised that Bolt would compete in the Games, which are due to open on October 3.

Simms said: "I do not understand why the CWG official cannot just accept his decision and stop putting out more stories in the press.

"They should focus on the athletes who are coming to India."
