August 6 - The British Triathlon Federation (BTF) today announced a significant double signing as they build up towards London 2012 with two new sponsorship deals.

They have confirmed a new four-year deal with leading sports drink, Taut and a five-year deal with elite triathlon clothing brand 2XU. 2XU have become the official wetsuits supplier and Taut will become the sports drink supplier.

The deals were negotiated by British Triathlon’s appointed commercial agency, Fast Track.

Taut have increased their support of triathlon’s governing body by taking up title sponsorship of the Taut British Triathlon and Duathlon Ranking Series.

As official sports drink supplier, Taut will be available to athletes at all British Triathlon Super Series events organised by the governing body.

The deal will also give some of the best age group athletes in the country access to the brand, as they compete in the Taut British Triathlon and Duathlon Ranking series, a competition through which athletes are able to gain qualification to represent Great Britain in World and European Age Group Championships.

2XU will provide wetsuits to the BTF Talent Pathway Squads.

This sponsorship articulates the ever-growing demand for 2XU wetsuits in the international high performance sporting niche.

The firm already has deals with Welsh Triathlon and Triathlon Scotland.

Zara Hyde Peters, the chief executive of the BTF, said: “We are delighted to announce this double sponsorship with Taut and 2XU, which will ensure the continued support of triathlon in Britain.

"We hope that these sponsorships will highlight the synergy between ourselves and the brands, as we all aim to help each other to further excel in triathlon and help our athletes achieve their best performance possible.”

Adrian Troy, Taut's head of marketing, said: “Taut provides triathletes with the optimum mix of carbohydrates and vitamins, without any artificial flavours, colours, sweeteners or preservatives, to help them strive towards their goals.

"These are exciting times for British Triathlon and we’re looking forward to seeing some big successes in the next four years, not least in 2012.”

Mike Trees, the managing director of 2XU UK distributor Triathlon Consultants Limited, said: “We are proud to have this opportunity to work with the British Triathlon Federation and the country’s finest triathletes.

"This now confirms 2XU as the UK’s leading Triathlon wetsuit brand and we are pleased to be able to provide support and the outstanding range of 2XU wetsuits to the British Triathlon Federation as they nurture our future Olympic and world champions.”
