MARCH 6 - LLOYDS TSB, the first sponsor of the London Olympic and Paralympics, today appointed world triple jump record holder Jonathan Edwards and Paralympic medallist Ade Adepitan as its ambassadors for the 2012 Games.
Edwards, the 2000 Olympic champion, and Adepitan will work with Lloyds TSB on a range of initiatives over the next four years, promoting its association with the Games, as well as helping to inspire and support employees, customers and the wider community on the journey to London 2012.
Edwards, who is also a member of the London 2012 Board, said: “I am extremely happy to be part of another great British team.
"We all share the same vision, that the 2012 Games can inspire people of all ages and abilities to start getting active now and I am delighted to be playing such a pivotal role in helping to promote this."
Adepitan was a member of the British wheelchair basketball team which won the bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Paralympic Games in Athens and the gold medal at the 2005 Paralympic World Cup in Manchester.
He said: "I am proud be a Lloyds TSB London 2012 ambassador.
"I am passionate about inspiring young people to get involved with sports and working with Lloyds TSB provides me with a great opportunity to reach out to communities across the UK and get them engaged and even more excited about the London 2012 Games."
Sally Hancock, Lloyds TSB London 2012 partnership director, said: "Jonathan and Ade are both great role models and sporting ambassadors. I am really excited about working with them on a range of initiatives over the next four years that truly support and deliver our vision and objectives for the Games.
"Our aim is to inspire and support young people, communities and businesses all over Britain in their journey to the London 2012 Games and beyond.
"Our ambassador programme will help bring this ambition to life and I am honoured that we are going to be working with such great sporting legends."
