altAUGUST 9 - UNITED STATES President George W Bush today visited a number of the American team competing in the Beijing Games while his father met a delegation from Chicago's 2016 Olympic bid.

 

Bush junior went mountain biking for more than an hour on the Olympic course which he proclaimed "really, really difficult".

He got in a few hits with the US beach volleyball teams and watched the country's softball teams practice.

 

The delegation from Chicago 2016, including chairman and chief executive Patrick Ryan and Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, greeted former President George H. W. Bush.

 

They also met several members of the International Olympic Committee, heads of National Olympic Committees and International Sports Federations, and welcomed them to the USA House, which is sponsored by the United States Olympic Committee. 

 

Ryan said: “Today’s reception was a significant and valuable occasion for Chicago’s Olympic bid.

 

"We joined together with the former President of the United States and leaders of the Olympic Movement and international sports community for important discussions on Chicago’s Olympic bid as well as other topics important to the Olympic Movement." 

 

Tomorrow, President Bush is scheduled to meet with Chinese President Hu Jintao.
