The London 2012 Olympic taekwondo competition (pictured top) at ExCeL proved a major hit, with the successful introduction of the electronic Protector Scoring System (PSS) ensuring no repeat of the controversies that blighted the sport at Beijing 2008.

One of the highlights of this year's event was 19-year-old Jade Jones securing victory in the women's -57kg weight category to claim Britain's first Olympic gold medal in the sport and delight the home crowd.

But, despite its success at London 2012, Choue promised that taekwondo would not rest on its laurels as he outlined the WTF's plans to establish a special team dedicated to helping ensure another successful Olympic competition in four years' time.

"The taekwondo family is already looking ahead to prepare for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio," he told insidethegames.

"In just a short time we will be forming a special task force to begin these preparations.

"Our experience here in London will certainly guide taekwondo to another successful Olympics in Rio and hopefully many more [Games] beyond."
