Michalle Jean_27-07-12July 27 - Michaëlle Jean, the witness for the Francophonie of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics, will be in the British capital until the end of this summer's Games to observe the use of the French language.

French along with English are the two official languages of the Olympic Movement.

An agreement on the use of French during the Games was signed at SportAccord in May.

The agreement set out how French must be used in the signs, documents and internet communications associated with London 2012.

Both languages will be used in competition and accredited zones, as well as in official announcements and at press conferences.

A French version of the spectator guide is also available on the London 2012 website.

During her visit, Jean (pictured above) will meet with French athletes and translators and visit Club France and Swiss House.

Jean will also attend the inauguration of Africa House and dine with French speaking members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and National Olympic Committees (NOC).
