TMS busJune 4 - Transportation Management Services UK (TMSUK), the firm which has helped design and plan the transport system for London 2012, has been sold to MV Transportation, Inc., they announced today. 


The company's current contracts, which also include the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, will continue to operate under TMSUK through to June 2015 and new contracts will be bid for under MV Transportation, Inc.

TMSUK has been involved in helping manage transport systems several major events, including the 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympics in Vancouver and the 2006 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. 

"The purchase of TMSUK presents MV with a platform on which we can accelerate the growth of our international business," said Carter Pate, the MV chief executive.

Dallas-based MV claims to be the largest private provider of paratransit services and the largest privately-owned passenger transportation contracting firm based in the United States.

TMSUK's services include all aspects of development of complex event transport systems, from bid committee consulting, budgeting, the development of detailed transport operational plans, and managing the entire transport effort for large, complex, multi-sport, multi-venue international events.

"The experience of TMSUK's management team in special event logistics coupled with MV's decades of experience with advanced passenger and vehicle location technology will lead to endless opportunities for growth," said Pate.

TMSUK President Brad Kurtz, along with all TMSUK international transportation specialists, will move over to MV Transportation.

The TMSUK office will remain in the United Kingdom and the office in Abu Dhabi will become the MV Transportation base for its Middle East operations.
