Steven Burke_of_Team_GB_leads_team_mates_leads_Andrew_Tennant_Jason_Queally_and_Ed_Clancy_17-10-11October 17 - Jason Kenny, Laura Trott, Steven Burke, Ed Clancy and Andy Tennant will seek to earn Olympic qualifying points as they defend their titles at the European Track Cycling Championships in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, from Friday (October 21).


Jason Queally, the 2000 Olympic kilo gold medallist who is currently European champion in the team pursuit will contest the team sprint this time around.

Sir Chris Hoy, the triple gold medallist from the Beijing 2008 Games, who started his 2011/2012 season with a hat trick of gold medals at the recent national championships, is also named by British Cycling today in the men's sprint squad.

Performance manager Shane Sutton said: "We're sending a strong team to the Euros and our aim remains to score Olympic qualification points early.

"I'd say we are on target to achieve this as the whole team is looking strong and healthy as we enter into the final preparation stages for London 2012."

The full British squad for the European Championships, which last until next Sunday (October 23), is:

Men's Sprint: Matt Crampton, Sir Chris Hoy, Jason Kenny, Jason Queally.

Women's Sprint: Victoria Pendleton, Jess Varnish.

Men's Endurance: Steven Burke, Ed Clancy, Peter Kennaugh, Andy Tennant, Geraint Thomas.

Women's Endurance: Dani King, Joanna Rowsell, Sarah Storey, Laura Trott.
