AIBA_Junior_and_Youth_World_Boxing_Championships_logoMay 2 - The inaugural AIBA Women's Junior and Youth World Boxing Championships ended with Russia top of the medal tables.


The event, which was held in Antalya, Turkey, saw the Russians take three gold medals.

Yaroslava Yakushina and Matrena Vyachkina both took titles in the middleweight division before Viktoriya Krylova won a heavyweight title.

Japan's Kasumi Saeki took gold in the light flyweight final with a victory over Thailand's Thi Phuong Pham.

Fellow Thai boxer Thi Vy Vouong took the light bantamweight title, whilst Ukraine's Victoria Virt crushed Russian opponent Svetlana Khilchenko in the bantamweight.

Turkey took the featherweight title when Reyhan Cakir defeated New Zealand's Thea Awhitu.

Sweden claimed two golds; Agnes Alexiusson and Hanna Lundbland taking the lightweight and light welterweight titles respectively.

Poland's Hanna Solecka took the welterweight gold ahead of Turkey's Celik Nursan, whilst Aidana Arapbay of Kazakhstan took the light middleweight title.

China took three gold medals, which were won by Yibo Zhang, Lili niu and Meiqing Yuan in the flyweight, bantamweight and light heavyweight divisions.

India's Sarjubala Shamjetsabam and Minu Basumatary took titles in the pinweight and flyweight divisions, whilst Germany's Ornella Wahner beat England's Charley Davison in the featherweight contest.
