british_badmintonApril 16 - England have named a strong 13 person squad for the 2011 Double Star BWF Sudirman Cup in Qingdao, China at the end of next month.


The only members of the team yet to appear in the World Mixed Team Championships are Carl Baxter and men's doubles champion Chris Langridge.

The rest of the squad competed in the competition held in Guangzhou two years ago, finishing sixth.

Nathan Robertson, who earned his 100th cap in the last Surdiman Cup, Anthony Clark, who has reached the same milestone since, Rajiv Ouseph and Elizabeth Cann were all members of the squad which took bronze in Glasgow 2007.

England are ranked 11th of the 12 squads challenging for the trophy in the First Division.

A record 33 nations entered the Cup, but England were the only one of the Home Ntions to do so.

In the 2009 competition England lost 5-0 and 4-1 to China and Indonesia respectively, but beat Japan 4-1 and then lost a fifth place play off with Denmark 3-2.

In 2007 they took their first medals home after losing 3-2 to Indonesia in the semi-finals.

China are the defending champions, and have won the cup seven times, including the last three tournaments.
