March 3 - Georgia have become the latest country to agree a deal with a venue in London to set-up a headquarters during next year's Olympics.


The National Olympic Committee of Georgia have confirmed London venue 45 Millbank, which is located close to Tate Britain, as their base during the Olympics and Paralympics.

They have hired the venue for 21 days, a deal confirmed by Gia Natsvlishvili, the former judo player who is now the President of the Georgian NOC.

"45 Millbank provides an ideal base for the Georgian Olympic family and we are very much looking forward to making the 2012 Games a special month for Georgian sport and culture," he said after a special signing ceremony.

Georgia join an increasing list of countries to have agreed deals for "Olympic Houses", including Brazil, Germany, France, Japan, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

Georgia will be working with The Concerto Group, one of the UK's leading event services companies, on their Olympic programme.


 
"Following our success with other nations, we are thrilled to be working with the Georgian NOC on this very exciting project and look forward to ensuring that the 2012 Games are a huge success for all their stakeholders," said Concerto 2012 project director, Dominique Gill, who secured the venue.

The complex of imposing neo-Baroque buildings which makes up 45 Millbank, built between 1904 and 1907 as the Royal Army Medical Corps Headquarters Mess and College, is architecturally acclaimed and which, since 2004,has been home to the world-famous Chelsea College of Art and Design

The centre's direcgtor, Hamish Clifton, was pleased to have secured the Olympic association for 45 Millbank.

"45 Millbank is a wonderful venue for all types of event and we are delighted to be working with Concerto and the Georgian NOC during 2012," he said.
