Dan_DarkJanuary 28 - Hertfordshire Ready For Winners Partnership (HRFWP) has secured the support of world famous film studio Warner Bros in the run-up to the London 2012 Games.

The company, which produced a multitude of iconic cartoon characters including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Sylvester and Tweety Pie, joins 37 other partners committed to creating healthier and closer communities through increased participation in sport, competition, cultural events and volunteering.

Warner Bros recently purchased the former air base and helicopter factory site at Leavesden where all eight Harry Potter movies were filmed.

The firm has plans to create a major film studio and a visitor attraction at the site.

Dan Dark, managing director of Warner Bros Studios Leavesden, said: "We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to play our part in the Hertfordshire is Ready for Winners Partnership, as part of our sustained commitment to supporting local communities around Leavesden."

HRFWB chairman Derrick Ashley said: "It is a great achievement for Hertfordshire is Ready For Winners to have attracted a global brand of the stature of Warner Bros Studios Leavesden to the partnership and, with the support of all of our partners, we look forward to increasing our momentum and taking advantage of the many opportunities for Hertfordshire that the Olympics and Paralympics offer."

Herts 2012 Ambassador John Fuller said: "Warner Bros Studios Leavesden adds another dimension to our reach.

"We have 18 months to go until the London 2012 Games and we must make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and achieve our ambitions for Hertfordshire."

Hertfordshire has already won the right to have an Olympic venue - the Lee Valley White Water Centre in Broxbourne - and HRFWP will be hosting a number of Olympic teams while they train for the Games, bringing great benefits to the county.
