No_4_Hamilton_Place_outsideJanuary 19 - The home of the Royal Aeronautical Society will be the base for the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) during London 2012, it was revealed today.

No 4 Hamilton is located overlooking Hyde Park and close to both Olympic activity and the main headquarter hotels of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Park Lane - ideal for the JOC to promote the bid it is expected to launch for the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics, with Tokyo and Hiroshima currently battling it out to be the candidate city.

Tsunekazu Takeda, president of the Japanese Olympic Committee, said: "An historic town house in Mayfair is a highly prestigious location for Japan House during the 2012 Olympic Games.

"We are also pleased to have built a strong relationship with the team at No. 4 Hamilton Place during the process of selecting a venue.

"Our confidence in their ability to deliver the quality and style of events celebrating Japan's Olympic participation was also extremely important."

No. 4 Hamilton Place's chief operating officer Jonathan Byrne said "building a warm relationship" with the JOC ensured the venue's team "fully understood their expectations and needs".

He added: "It was an enlightening and thoroughly enjoyable exercise in cultural understanding which will be of great benefit to me."

The Concerto Group introduced the JOC to No 4 Hamilton Place through their close relationship through ISES (The International Special Events Society), part of a 6,000 strong global membership network for the special events industry.

Earlier this month, the Swiss Olympic Committee secured Glaziers Hall as a base for fans and corporate clients during the London 2012 Olympics.

Other London venues to have been awarded National Olympic Committee contracts include Somerset House with Brazil, Alexandra Palace with the Netherlands, Old Billingsgate with France and the Museum of London Docklands with Germany.
