The International World Games Association (IWGA) has confirmed the competition venues and dates for all 35 sports in The World Games 2025, coinciding with its 44th anniversary, which was founded on 21 May, 1980.

The 12th edition of The World Games is set to take place in Chengdu, China, from 7 until 17 August, 2025. Over these ten action-packed days, athletes will compete in 35 sports, encompassing 61 disciplines and 254 medal events.

Such competition will be held across eight clusters using a total of 28 state-of-the-art venues. The Chengdu 2025 Organising Committee has ensured that the facilities meet the highest international standards, providing optimal conditions for over 4,000 top athletes from around the world.

Plans includes utilising existing venues and constructing temporary infrastructure to host the games, aiming to reduce environmental impact and overall costs. Notably, eight of the proposed venues were previously used for the FISU World University Games in the summer of 2023. These venues will host events such as the Opening Ceremony, Canoe Polo, Gymnastics/Cheerleading, Karate/Ju-Jitsu/Sambo, Wushu/Powerlifting, all three DanceSport disciplines, Floorball, and Indoor Korfball.

Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province with nearly 20 million residents, offers a well-designed transportation network ensuring that travel time between venues, athletes' villages, and official hotels does not exceed 60 minutes, even during peak traffic. This efficient system will facilitate smooth travel between different competition locations.

The Organising Committee is focused on hosting a spectacular, impactful and sustainable Games with a lasting legacy for Chengdu and the region.

"We are more than satisfied with the venues proposed, and our International Member Federations have been consulted throughout the process. We have full confidence that it will be a remarkable event at the heart of a dynamic community.”
