The president of the Royal Spanish Boxing Federation, Felipe Martinez, told Inside The Games at the presentation: "We are very happy, the expectations are very high. We are not used to organising events of this magnitude here in Spain, with this kind of production value. I must congratulate everyone who has made this event possible.

"This is a big step, a starting point for hosting great events. We have learnt a lot from the IBA and the organisers to host such events. The main protagonists are the athletes, who wanted to be here because they want to have an image that they wouldn't have otherwise, and they also have the competition to arrive in optimal form for the Olympic Games," said the head of Spanish boxing.

In the main event, 26-year-old Jose Quiles, who will be taking part in his second Olympic Games, will face Ibanez, who was born in Cuba but represents Bulgaria in the under-57 category.

"Crazy Horse", as he is known in the boxing world, won silver at the European Championships in 2022 and the European Games in 2023, and will be looking for gold in Paris from 26 July, when the 33rd Olympic Games begin.

Confident of leaving the precious IBA belt in the Iberian country, Quiles said: "The belt already has my name on it, I'm going to give my title to Spain. It's going to be a great fight, we've fought before but this time it will be different, the title will stay here in Spain. Enjoy the fight".

At the end of the official presentation, he was asked exclusively by Inside The Games why he was so confident of winning the title, and the Valencia-born fighter replied: "It's because of the work, which has been extensive, we have worked very hard for this opponent and this fight, and it will be shown tomorrow."

Touching on the importance of such high-level championships in the build-up to the Olympics, he then added: "It's very important to strengthen ourselves mentally. Winning this title will give me extra confidence to go to Paris, it's very good to have these opportunities to compete."

On his motivation, the 26-year-old from Elda, who weighed in at 56.85kg, continued: "I am very motivated to have an event like this in Madrid and for people to enjoy it. We also enjoy such an event. I'm here to win the title, not out of obligation."

Before he left, still smiling, as he expressed his confidence in tomorrow's fight against the Bulgarian, he finished by saying, "It won't go beyond the eighth round", when asked to give a predicition.
