BBC Children's and Education, the Premier League, and ParalympicsGB have collaborated to introduce Super Movers for Every Body.

The initiative harnesses the excitement of elite football and the achievements of talented athletes to involve disabled children and those with special educational needs in sports and physical activities. At present, 1.5 million children in England possess special educational needs or disabilities, yet only a quarter of disabled children engage in physical activity at school. Super Movers for Every Body aims to address this challenge by encouraging participation from all, ensuring everyone gets active.

Educators and parents can explore a diverse range of engaging, curriculum-linked resources for free on BBC Teach. This includes follow-along videos of Super Movers for Every Body, featuring CBBC personalities, ParalympicsGB athletes, and Premier League mascots, along with additional downloadable activities aimed at encouraging children to be active.

Primary school teachers nationwide in the UK have the opportunity to register for a complimentary Super Movers For Every Body equipment pack, generously supported by the Premier League. The packs are intended to assist in delivering inclusive sports activities for all students aged five to eleven. They include a selection of equipment and resource cards tailored to facilitate a variety of enjoyable activities, such as Blind Football, Para-athletics, and Boccia.

Speaking about Super Movers for Every Body, the ambassador and multiple Paralympic gold medallist, Hannah Cockroft said: “I am so proud to be part of the exciting Super Movers for Every Body campaign. It’s all about ensuring no child misses out on PE and sport in schools, whether they are disabled or non-disabled, it encourages everyone that they can move, they can be active and they can be included.

“Giving teachers and children the confidence, skills and knowledge they need to ensure nobody is left out is so important to me.  We need to recognise that every child can do sport, it is just about finding the right activity and making any adaptations to find the way that is right for them.

“I have so many skills from taking part in sport that have been so valuable in all aspect of my life and I want every child to have the opportunity to develop those skills.”

The provision of equipment packs and online resources will enable teachers, parents, and caregivers to introduce children to new sports both during the school term and throughout the summer holidays. This will offer them fresh opportunities as preparations for the Paralympics in Paris this August commence.

Schools can apply until 7 June, 2024, and if approved, they will receive their pack starting from September 2024, coinciding with the beginning of the next academic year.
