England and Saracens forward Billy Vunipola was tasered and arrested following an alleged violent incident in Mallorca, according to reports from Spain on Monday.

English Premiership club Saracens stated that they were aware of an incident involving their star player and would handle the matter internally. According to the Mallorca-based Ultima Hora newspaper, Vunipola, aged 31, was reportedly tasered twice by police upon arriving at a bar in the island's capital, Palma.

As per the report, he allegedly removed his shirt at one point and confronted passers-by, requiring the intervention of eight police officers to subdue and handcuff him. Subsequently, he was transported to a hospital, where it was reported that he required sedation.

The newspaper's website featured a video displaying a handcuffed Vunipola, along with other individuals, being escorted from a police van into a courtroom. Saracens then released a statement on social media.

It read: "Saracens is aware of an incident involving Billy Vunipola in Majorca. We will of course deal with this incident internally, and will not make any further comment until then."

Vunipola looks set to depart Saracens at the conclusion of this season and has previously been rumoured to be considering a move to France, although no official confirmation has been made. Having earned 75 England caps, he made his Test debut against Argentina in 2013. Presently, he is not included in the England squad.

The forward, who was born in Australia to Tongan parents, came on as a substitute in the second half for Saracens during their 15-12 win over Bath on Friday. The club's next scheduled match is not until May 11.

Saracens currently hold the second position in the English Premiership and are pursuing their sixth league title in the last 10 seasons. With only two rounds of regular season games remaining before the playoffs, they are in contention for the championship.
