On Play True Day, 19 April 2024, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) brought together teams, athletes and international federations via social media to promote clean sport.

WADA encouraged the entire global anti-doping community to join in on a social media campaign dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of clean sport, using the #OnePlayTrueTeam hashtag. Witold Bańka, president of the organisation, said: "WADA is proud to be celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Born out of the urgency to address the problem of doping in sport, the Agency's creation in 1999 activated the global collaborative movement for doping-free sport."

"Since then, athletes around the world have benefited from the commitment of the global anti-doping community - past and present. The development of the global anti-doping system has been, and will continue to be, a true team effort. We have come a long way together and we must go further to raise the game for athletes around the world," he added.

A number of international federations answered the call, with the International Cycling Union (UCI), World Rowing, UEFA and the Paralympic Games all posting supportive messages on social media.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Play True Day, which was inspired by an educational conference hosted by WADA in 2013 and attended by 17 South American countries. What started as a small South American initiative has grown into a huge global campaign, with a potential global social media reach of 161 million and nearly 160,000 social media engagements last year.
