Kafadar competed in the women's -49kg division and defeated opponents from Cuba, Puerto Rico and the tournament's top seed from Colombia. He has now earned a quota spot for Paris 2024 and is eligible to be named on Team Canada for this summer's Olympic Games.

The Canadian was one of her country's athletes in the Dominican Republic. The other two, Braven Park and Marc-Andre Bergeron, did not earn a quota spot for Paris 2024. 

The 23-year-old fighter will now join Skylar Park, who has already earned a quota spot for Canada through her World Taekwondo Olympic ranking and will be competing in her second Olympic Games this summer.

"I am super grateful to be here. With such an intense match in the semi-final, it could have gone either way. I'm very proud of the effort I put in to get here and I'm thankful for my coach, my training partner and everyone who has helped me along the way. Thank you all. We are going to the Olympics," said a delighted Kafadar.

Kafadar returned to the women's -49kg continental qualifiers after a strong performance at the Tokyo 2020 qualifiers. With four more years of experience under her belt, she set her sights set on qualifying again and gave an insight into her preparations. 

"I am very grateful for the opportunity to compete for Canada and earn an Olympic spot. It has been my dream since I was young to make the Olympic team. It is a goal I have been working towards since watching taekwondo at the 2008 Olympics," she added. 

"I have pushed myself in ways I never have before and I appreciate the people who have helped me get to where I am and where I want to go," concluded Kadafar.
