Bianca Cook will represent the Isle of Man at the European Taekwondo Championships in Belgrade in May as she looks to book her place at Paris 2024. She will be competing for an unprecedented 5th European title.

The Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 bronze in the women's +65kg category is aiming for another Olympic appearance. Great Britain already have an Olympic berth in the women's +67kg category after world runner-up Rebecca McGowan qualified via world rankings. The European Championships will be the last chance for three-time world champion Cook to take McGowan's place in Team Great Britain.

Although the Isle of Man is not part of the United Kingdom, its citizens are British and its athletes are eligible for selection for Team GB at the Paris Olympics. "It is great to have the opportunity to represent the Isle of Man. This island has become a part of my life, and I am grateful to the Isle of Man Taekwondo Association for welcoming me," she said.

"I want to show my form to be selected for Team GB and at the same time represent the Isle of Man in World Taekwondo competitions, including the European Championships," continued Bianca Cook. The European Championships will be the last chance for three-time world champion Cook to take McGowan's place in Team Great Britain.

GB Taekwondo Performance Director Gary Hall said that the organisation supports athletes from all the territories that come together as Team GB. "Our current squad includes athletes from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, so we welcome Bianca seeking recognition of her connection to the Isle of Man," he said.

"Bianca will remain a member of the GB Taekwondo World Class Programme and will continue to receive our full support as she prepares to compete at the European Championships and seeks selection for the Paris Olympics," Hall concluded.
