Caden Cunningham, the 2023 European Games champion from Great Britain, is aiming to become the youngest ever Olympic taekwondo champion in the men's heavyweight division, reports 'The Mirror.'

He said that in 2022 he was already thinking about missing Paris 2024 and preparing for Los Angeles 2028. "I tore my ACL at the 2022 World Championships and after that everyone thought, go to LA. But for me the first thought was that it makes it a bit harder to get to Paris, it was never a case of 'I can't go'".

According to the athlete, the loss at the 2022 European Championships was a turning point. "In 2022 at the European Championships, it was my first year as a full-fledged senior. I lost a fight on golden point in the quarter-finals. It was a very boring match, neither of us scored any points. I wasn't beaten up but I lost, and that day was over for me. That's when I realised it's not just about fighting."

"I thought, if that's the way it is, that's the way it is. Let's go to the gym and learn how to fix it. That's what I did and since then I've slowly built up my medal tally, my ability in the ring and I've become the force to be reckoned with that I am now," she concluded.
