Tokyo 2020 runner-up Madeleine Malonga (women's -78kg), reigning world silver medallist Julia Tulofua (women's +78kg) and two-time Olympic gold medallist Teddy Riner (men's +100kg) were in Antalya to fight for gold and they didn't disappoint.

Riner had a very tough opponent: two-time world mixed team champion and 2022 world runner-up Tatsuru Saito (Japan) fought hard against Riner, attacking for all four minutes, but Riner defended well and once caught his opponent with waza-ari to take the gold medal of the tournament.

Malonga defeated reigning European champion Alina Boehm of Germany by ippon. A week ago, Boehm defeated another French judoka, Rio 2016 silver medallist Audrey Tcheumeu, for third place at the Tbilisi Grand Slam. 

At the Paris Grand Slam, Malonga defeated Tcheumeu in the final and is now the clear favourite for a vacant place in the French national team for Paris 2024.

Tulofua, who was France's third number behind Romane Dicko and Lea Fontaine, won the gold medal by beating China's Xin Su in the final, with Fontaine finishing fifth. Dicko has already secured her place in the national team for the Olympic Games, while Tulofua has moved ahead of Fontaine in the world rankings.

Sanshiro Murao won Japan's fifth gold medal in Antalya, beating Azerbaijan's Vugar Talibov. Japan top the medals table with two golds ahead of France. 

Jorge Fonseca (Portugal) loves to win in Antalya. His only Grand Slam title came in Antalya in 2022, and now he has added his second, again in urkey. He scored four victories by ippon on his way to the final. In the semi-final Fonseca defeated reigning world champion Arman Adamian (Individual Neutral Athlete). The final was a walkover for Fonseca as his opponent Shady Elnahas was injured en route to the final and couldn't compete. 

Tokyo 2020 champion Aaron Wolf (Japan) was beaten by Brazilian Leonardo Goncalves in the quarter-finals, but came back to take bronze in the repechage when Adamian retired with an injury.
