Accra 2023: Tunisia tops medal table in Kyorugi Taekwondo competition. AFRICAN GAMES 2023

The Kyorugi Taekwondo competition at the 2023 African Games took place from 17 to 20 March. Many of the athletes who qualified for Paris 2024 competed in Accra.

The biggest star was Niger's Abdoulrazak Issoufou, who won gold in the men's +87kg category. The Rio 2016 runner-up defeated Egypt's Abdallah Hassan in the final. Another star name, Nigeria's Elizabeth Anyanacho, was the best in the women's -67kg. Niger won four gold medals and finished second on the Kyorugi medals table, but it was Tunisia who topped the medals table with six gold medals, mainly thanks to their women's team who brought home four gold medals. Egypt finished third with two gold and five silver medals.

The taekwondo action continues on 21 and 22 March with the mixed team events and the men's poomsae.
