Sharjah Self Defence wins NAS Sports adult Jiu-Jitsu competition. ACTION UAE

Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club dominated the adult competition at the NAS Sports Jiu-Jitsu Tournament, held at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex in Dubai. The two-day tournament, which culminated in exciting fights on Monday night, saw Sharjah Self-Defence take first place.

Yousef Abdullah Al Batran, Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, noted that the NAS Sports Jiu-Jitsu Tournament, organised by the Dubai Sports Council in collaboration with the UAEJJF, was an exceptional event that brought together the most talented athletes and a remarkable number of fans. 

"Jiu-Jitsu in the UAE is constantly evolving and moving from one success to the next, whether it is the development of the athletes' skills or the level of organisation and hosting of major tournaments. This is evidenced by the growing interest in participating in championships such as the the NAS Sports Jiu-Jitsu Tournament," said Al Batran. 

"The UAEJJF is committed to organising numerous sporting events throughout the year to provide competitors with the opportunity to improve and develop their skills, as well as maintain their physical fitness and mental preparedness," he added.

Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club, congratulated the Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club champions on their outstanding performance on Monday. 

"I would like to express my appreciation to the UAEJJF and Dubai Sports Council for organising the championship in such an exemplary manner. The global jiu-jitsu community looks forward to the NAS Sports Jiu-Jitsu Tournament every year, and it has become a popular event in the UAE sporting calendar," he said.

Brazilian Rafaela Bertolot from Al Wahda Club Jiu-Jitsu Academy, who won gold in the women's Gi/Black/Adult/72kg category, said: "I would like to thank the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and the Dubai Sports Council for organising this tournament and giving us the opportunity to compete alongside the country's elite athletes in an intense event. Moreover, winning a gold medal fills me with joy".

Jassem Abdullah Alhosani of Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club, who won gold in the men's Gi/Purple/Adult/85kg, added: "The NAS Sports Jiu-Jitsu Tournament provided an ideal platform for the athletes to showcase their skills, test their methods and evaluate their progress. The fights were difficult, but I was able to win and I believe that this victory marks an important milestone in my career."
