Faith Kipyegon will seek to become the first Kenyan athlete to earn Olympic gold in three consecutive Games when she competes in Paris next year.

Kipyegon, who broke three world records this season and earned world titles at 1500 and 5,000 metres, earned Olympic gold in the former distance at the Rio 2016 Games and successfully defended the title in Tokyo.

Speaking on Citizen TV's JKLive Show, Kipyegon said achieving the feat would guarantee that her name goes down in the annals of athletics history.

"I want to make history; If I do that I leave a legacy for the next generation," she said.

Kipyegon, a strong favourite to be voted women’s World Athlete of the Year, broke world records in the 1500m, mile and 5,000m and concluded her season with victory in the Wanda Diamond League final in Eugene.

"This was amazing, starting with the world record and now winning the trophy," she said.

"It has been a fantastic year for me and I really thank God for that."

The Paris 2024 Olympics are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11.
