Mohammed Siraj ran through the Sri Lankan top order as India registered a 10-wicket win to lift the Asia Cup at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Siraj got a career-best 6 for 21, including four wickets in one over, to help the sub-continent become the most successful side in the history of the tournament with eight trophies.

Sri Lanka batted first and crumbled after scoring only 50 runs in 15.2 overs, with five of them departing for ducks.

The 29-year-old Siraj sent Pathum Nissanka, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Charith Asalanka and Dhananjaya de Silva packing in the fourth over.

He was joined by Hardik Pandya with three wickets while Jasprit Bumrah got rid of Kusal Perera for a duck in the first over as Sri Lanka folded for their second lowest total in one-day internationals (ODIs).

Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill were sent in for the chase and the duo sealed the victory in a mere 6.1 overs.

"It has been a below par performance," Sri Lankan coach Chris Silverwood was quoted as saying by Al Jazeera.

"To get bowled out the way we did was very disappointing.

"There is a lot of reflection to be done."

The group stages of the tournament saw India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh qualify for the super four stage.

Afghanistan and Nepal failed to get beyond the first round.

The next major tournament for India is a three-match ODI series at home before the Cricket World Cup begins on October 5.

India will face Australia in the opener in Chennai on October 8 in the 50-over tournament.
