Olympic champion Janja Garnbret of Slovenia won the boulder and lead title at the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) World Championships.

The 24-year-old scored 177 points overall in the final at the PostFinance Arena in the Swiss capital, defeating Austrian Jessica Pilz who managed 157.1 for the silver medal. 

Japan's Mori Ai settled for bronze with a score of 140.6.

All three athletes won a quota at the Paris 2024 Olympics following their performance. 

"I feel incredible and relieved at the same time," Garnbret said after the win.

"It feels so amazing today. 

"I felt so composed today actually, I was climbing the Lead route flawlessly and I am just incredibly happy right now that I have qualified, even though I have qualified once before, you don’t get tired of this feeling of qualifying for an Olympics.

"So, my second Olympics – here we go."

This is the second gold medal of the World Championships for the Slovenian, who also secured the bouldering title. 

Her impressive record at this level continued having won the lead gold in 2016, bouldering and combined title in 2018 and the lead, bouldering and combined title in 2019. 

Brooke Raboutou of the United States finished fourth today, with a score of 137.8.

The top five was rounded off by South Korea's Kim Jain, who was way behind Raboutou with 106.2.

Competition is set to conclude tomorrow with the men's boulder and lead final.
