University and Tertiary Sport New Zealand (UTSNZ) have produced a video in a bid to encourage more university students from the country to join them as volunteers.

The video aims to promote the organisation’s workforce development programme, which gives university students the chance to join volunteer in roles related to photography, journalism, event management, marketing and social media.

Through becoming a volunteer with UTSNZ students are able to develop skills in areas including communication, problem-solving, leadership, teamwork and critical thinking.

The video explains how the programme provides opportunities to "represent your university, build lasting friendships and work at national and global events."

One of the speakers in the video Phia Nem, a social media volunteer said: "Being a part of the production and creation of the new 'Team UTSNZ' workforce development video was an absolute blast!

"It was satisfying to reflect on my own volunteering journey and to know that my experience might resonate and help inspire others."

The creation of the video was supported through the allocation of International University Sports Federation project funding.

Students interested in joining the programme should visit the UTSNZ website and complete the online application form to be added to the UTSNZ’s volunteer database.
