Bergere stuns Wilde and Yee to take World Triathlon title

Unbelievable. France's Léo Bergere has upset all the odds to become men's World Triathlon champion.

This looked a head-to-head between New Zealand's Hayden Wilde and Britain's Alex Yee at the start of play, but Bergere delivered the perfect race and took victory in 1 hour 44min 14sec.

The US' Morgan Pearson had a brilliant day too to finish second on the day in 1:44:25, but it was what heppened behind him that decided the title.

Belgium's Jelle Geens took third by three seconds ahead of Yee, forcing the Briton to settle for fourth which was not enough to win the title.

Wilde would have taken overall gold with fifth, but he finished sixth behind Matthew Hauser of Australia.

And so after all of that, Bergere claims a quite stunning world title.
