Finland have won the inaugural International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) eWorld Championship, with the pair of Erik "ENCEKI" Tammenpaa and Valtteri "Vattuyy" Virtanen defeating the United States 8-7 in overtime.

It acted as a successor to the IIHF Esport Fan Championship, which saw ENCEKI teaming with Joel "Rottadee" Myllymaki to win that competition two years ago against Sweden.

This time, they defeated Americans David "JrPens" Roebuck and Joseph "Jos" Olmstead.

Finland and the US defeated Latvia and the Czech Republic, respectively, in their semi-finals to make the final.

Vattuyy and JrPens first faced each other on Playstation in the game NHL 22, with the American edging out his opponent 1-0.

ENCEKI came from two goals down in the Xbox match to defeat Jos 5-2.

In the second match between the pair, JrPens defeated Vattuyy 1-0 again to make the overall score 5-4 to Finland.

Game four saw Jos take the contest in overtime, defeating ENCEKI 3-2, with the aggregate score tied at 7-7.

All four players were then in action together, with ENCEKI scoring the golden goal to give Finland the victory.
