Hungary retain women's K4 500m Olympic crown as Carrington misses out on medal

Hungary retain their women's K4 500m Olympic title as New Zealand's Lisa Carrington is denied a fourth successive gold at Tokyo 2020.

Belarus make the strong start, with Australia and New Zealand following in second and third respectively.

The Belarussians stretch their lead to four metres, holding a 0.20 seconds lead over Hungary at the halfway point.

But Hungarians are on the charge and soon overtake Belarus.

Poland and Belarus are chasing, with New Zealand slipping to fourth.

Hungary are holding strong here and cross the finish line first, winning in 1:35.463.

Belarus take silver in 1:36.073, with Poland clinching bronze in 1:36.445.

New Zealand miss out on a medal, coming fourth in 1:37.243.
