The Angolan Olympic Committee (COA) held its Plenary Assembly to discuss the country's preparations for Tokyo 2020.

COA President Dr. Gustavo da Conceição called the meeting which was attended by Nicolau Daniel, the national director of youth and sports.

Representatives from the Angolan federations for athletics, basketball, judo, swimming and sailing were also in attendance.

The country has since competed at every Summer Games since, except Los Angeles 1984, and has yet to win a medal.

For this year's rearranged Olympics in Tokyo, Angola has qualified its women's handball team.

This continues a streak of consecutive Games appearances which stretches back to Atlanta 1996.

The men's basketball side will attempt to reach the Olympics through a qualifying tournament in Lithuania in June and July.
