Evan OHanlonJanuary 14 - Australia's Evan O'Hanlon put down a huge marker for the London 2012 Paralympics as he smashed his own T38 100 metres world record in his home country at the Brisbane Track Classic.


The 23-year-old from Sydney, who has cerebral palsy, was competing against able-bodied counterparts in the race but stole they show with his time of 10.91sec which us an improvement on the record he set at Beijing by 0.05.

"This is a testament to my coach," said O'Hanlon, who won three gold medals at Beijing 2008 in the T38 100 and 200m as well as in the 4x100m T35-38 relay.

"I ran so well leading into Beijing and this improvement when it counts is a credit to how we plan for the four-year cycle.

"This season wasn't about running great times so this is such a fantastic bonus, domestic events this year were just about building for London.

"The plan is to get into the camp in Europe early, and I want to win gold at the Games, simple as that."

O'Hanlon will be one of Australia's biggest medal hopes at the London 2012 Paralympics as he continues on his strong from the Christchurch 2011 International Paralympic Committee (IPC) World Championships where he won four medals, including two golds.
