August 21 - Great Britain's top Paralympic archers have returned home from the 2011 Para-Archery World Ranking Event in Nymburk in the Czech Republic with a fantastic haul of eight gold medals, three silvers and two bronzes.
Beijing 2008 Paralympic champion Danielle Brown (pictured) led the way as the 23-year-old from Lothersdale, who has reflex sympathetic dystrophy in the feet and therefore competes sitting down or leaning on a stool, won three gold medals on the last day of the event.
Brown's first gold came in the individual event where she beat GB teammate Sarah Beamish in the final in her way to victory.
She then won gold with John Stubbs in the mixed compound event before she teamed up with Beamish and Pippa Britton to secure victory in the team tournament.
There were individual golds too for John Cavanagh and Kate Murray, while Murray Elliot and Eric Thomas both picked up silver medals.
Cavanagh, who picked up an individual bronze medal earlier in the week, won a second gold with Thomas and Richard Hennahane, in the men's team competition.
Britain's final gold medals came in team events in the recurvers as the women's trio of Murray, Sharon Vennard and Leigh Walmsley claimed victory shortly before the men's team of Elliot Kenny Allen and Paul Browne came on top in their event.
"It's been a fantastic week, well worth going, and every one headed for home on a real high," said GB Paralympic coach Tim Hazell.
"Everyone worked really hard and it sets up really well for the Stoke Mandeville event next month."
The GB archers will be firm favourites to come out on at the London 2012 Paralympics next year when the event is held at The Royal Artillery Barracks.
The Royal Artillery Barracks date back to 1716, when a Royal Warrant authorised the formation of two artillery companies at the Royal Arsenal in Woolwich, and the current building was constructed between 1775 and 1802.
The 2012 Paralympic archery event will feature 140 athletes, 88 of who will be male and who will be female.
