51217560August 3 - The French Paralympic Committee (FFH) and EDF will hold a celebration of Paralympic sport in front of Paris' Town Hall on September 9 and 10.

The celebration coincides with the London 2012 Paralympic Games tickets going on sale to the public, and is just a day after a similar International Paralympic Committee (IPC) event takes place in London.

Paris were the city beaten six years ago by London in the race to host the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.

The fifth edition of the French event will allow the public to discover and try out various Paralympic sports and meet past champions.

The FFH has organised a full programme for the Paris event which includes champion athletes.

As ambassadors for their sport, major athletes will be performing display sessions or will challenge the public in friendlies.

Five zones, each of which corresponds to a special sports category, will be on offer.

There will be an "energy" zone, with athletics, powerlifting, rowing and cycling, and then "team", which features wheelchair basketball, powerchair football, wheelchair rugby, goalball and kinball.

"Precision" will host boccia, shooting and blowgun activities, "duel" will have wrestling, judo, table tennis, wheelchair tennis, fencing and speedball, while 'sensations' includes climbing, body expression and a wheelchair course.
