Hosts Argentina were in commanding form as the final round of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Snow Volleyball World Tour began in Bariloche.

Two Argentine teams progressed to the quarter-finals, with Argentina 1 breezing through Pool A without losing a set in the Rio Negro province.

The quartet of Mauro Zelayeta, Bautista Amieva, Ian Mehamed and Santiago Aulisi lived up to their favourites tag as they followed up a 15-11, 15-12 victory against China with a comfortable 15-7, 15-7 triumph over Sweden.

They completed the opening day's competition with a 15-13, 15-11 win against Russia to top the group.

Argentina 2 played two matches in Pool B as rivals Brazil's late arrival to the tournament resulted in the hosts being awarded a 15-0, 15-0 win.

Leo Aveiro, Fabrizio Satriano, Sebastian Fernandez and Ramiro Nuñez strolled to a 15-8, 15-10 win against Italy before defeating Uruguay 15-11, 15-8 to top the pool.

American siblings Riley, Maddison and Jameson McKibbin were joined by Troy Field as they reached the quarter-finals by topping Pool C.

The United States team, who won the World Tour event in Plan de Corones/Kronplatz in Italy earlier this year, opened their account with a 15-10, 15-9 win against Chile.

They were forced into a third set against Argentina 3 in their second match before winning the deciding set to record a 15-8, 16-18, 15-7 triumph.

The fourth quarter-final berth was awarded to Russia as the best second-placed team after the pool phase.

In the women's tournament, four teams remained unbeaten with Brazil, USA, Russia and Czech Republic setting the standard.

In Pool A, Russia won their opening three matches as the trio of Olga Filina, Anna Romashova and Marina Grechko showed their talents on the snow.

They began with a 15-5, 15-7 win against Chile 1, followed up with a 15-6, 15-5 win against Chile 2 and closed the day with a three-set 15-11, 13-15, 15-8 victory over Lithuania.

The Russian team will take on Czech Republic's Anna Dostalova, Sarlota Svobodova and Magdalena Dostalova in a table-topping clash after they recorded three victories of their own.

The Czech side won 15-11, 15-12 against Chile 1 before seeing off a determined Lithuania 15-12, 15-17, 15-10.

They beat Chile 2 15-8, 15-12 to secure their third win of the day.

Brazilian legend Juliana Felisberta Da Silva teamed up with Josemari Alves and Tainá Silva Bigi to defeat Turkey, Argentina 1 and Nigeria without dropping a set in Pool C.

In Pool B, the United States lead the way after recording back-to-back victories against Argentina 2 and Japan.

They claimed a 15-11, 13-15, 15-8 win against Argentina 2 before cruising past Japan 15-5, 15-13.

Tomorrow the tournament continues with the elimination phase and quarter-finals.
