France's Romain Frank secured his place in the first round of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Orléans Masters at the Palais des Sports thanks to a 20-minute victory over Benin's Roman Razaki on home soil.

Nineteen-year-old Frank started the match in exceptional fashion, racing into a 10-0 lead in the first game.

Razaki, who is ranked 1,122nd in the world, then fought back with a few unanswered points of his own to make it 10-3, only for Frank to once again blow him away to take the first game 21-4.

The second game was a much closer affair with the players keeping within touching distance of each other for the first third and they were even tied on seven points apiece at one stage.

Frank, who has won three of his four matches in 2018, however, again showed his class to eventually take the game 21-15, handing him the match win.

Frank was then set to face Germany's Jonathan Persson, who had beaten India's Adrian George 21-15, 21-16 earlier in the day.

Uganda and Zambian International runner-up Persson, however, could not participate in his match against Frank, meaning the Frenchman was given a walkover.

Although Frank’s 20-minute thrashing of Razaki was impressive, it was not the quickest victory of the day.

That honour went to Germany's Max Weisskirchen, who beat Russia's Pavel Kotsarenko 21-9, 21-10 in just 16 minutes.

It was not such a good day for the hosts in the women’s singles competition, however, as, despite each of them winning their first qualifying matches of the day, Marie Batomene, Katia Normand and Yaelle Hoyaux all lost their second qualifying games.

Normand and Hoyaux both lost to Indian opponents with Normand going down to Mugdha Agrey by a 21-15, 18-21, 13-21 scoreline whilst Hoyaux lost 19-21, 22-20, 18-21 to Vaidehi Choudhari,

Batomene lost 17-21, 21-9, 19-21 to Indonesia's Devi Yunita Indah Sari.

The event continues tomorrow with the seeded players entering the tournament for the first round proper.
