World champion Anna Gasser triumphed in the women’s Big Air competition as the Winter X Games continued in Aspen.

The Austrian snowboarder will head into Pyeongchang 2018 as one of the favourites to claim gold in the discipline, which will make its debut appearance at the Winter Olympics.

Gasser achieved a total of 86.00 at the end of the competition, which saw athletes best two scores from their three runs combined.

Her best run included cab 1080 double cork and frontside 900 double tricks.

Gasser was able to hold off the challenge of Japanese teenager Reira Iwabuchi, who ended as the silver medallist on 71.00.

The podium was rounded off by yesterday’s snowboard slopestyle winner Jamie Anderson, with the American also ending on 71.00.

Norwegian teenager Marcus Kleveland secured his first Winter X Games gold, with the 18-year-old triumphing in the men’s snowboard slopestyle.

Kleveland achieved a score of 93.66 in his second run of the competition to move to the top of the standings.

He would finish narrowly ahead of Darcy Shape, with the Canadian taking the silver medal on 91.00.

Bronze was earned by Canada’s Mark McMorris, who scored 90.00.

Her first run score of 92.33 would proved unbeatable on the day, with Britain’s Isabel Atkin going closest by scoring 88.00 for second place.

Jennie Lee Burmansson secured bronze, as the Swedish skier ended on 85.00.
