Equipment is being provided by the International Floorball Federation (IFF) to a Hungarian children's home in order to help introduce them to the sport.

Under the terms of the agreement, children have received sticks and balls as well as two sets of goalkeeping equipment from the world governing body.

It all started when Budapest-based teacher Kevin Fayarchuk contacted the IFF for any possible assistance.

He is now teaching the sport to the youngsters and is hoping to encourage more people to play.

"Adrienne, the director of the children's home asked me to let you know how thankful and appreciative they are for your donation," he wrote in an email to the IFF.

"We got the kids into a game after some drills and plays.

"The boys and girls that range in age from 10 to 15 are hooked."

Floorball is particularly popular in Europe but its appeal is only now beginning to grow in Hungary.

"The IFF does several equipment co-operations a year and it’s always great to hear when something good comes of it," added IFF Operations Coordinator Veli Halonen.

"Floorball is a sport for all and we are truly happy that the children in Budapest are enjoying it."
